Second Post Today! A Special Father's Day Card

Always Daddy's Little Girl

A sweet friend of mine, Leslie, asked me to make a very special Father's Day card for her to give to her dad.  I asked if she wanted something really dad-like, such as fishing, golfing, grilling, etc.  Nope.  She wanted something really sentimental, something that could bring tears to his eyes.  Well, even though my Leslie is grown with kids of her own, she will always be her daddy's little girl, so Mo Manning's illustration of grandpa dancing with granddaughter came to mind.  I figured it would pass as a dad, dancing with his daughter at any age but still seeing her as his little girl.

Easel cards are the perfect presentation for a card that is expected to sit out on display, like we think this one will be.  The dp is from the DCWV  "At Home" collection. I love the wallpaper looks and these awesome glittery clocks.  The flowers are Prima with rose centers.  I used a brad from Spare Parts for one of the flowers.
Inside is an envelope with a blank card for Leslie to write a personal note to her date.  Something for his eyes only, then he can tuck it away.

The illustration is colored with Copics and the dress and vest are coated with clear Spica gel.  I wish it showed better in the photo, because the subtle shimmer is perfect!

Leslie hasn't seen this yet and I sure hope she likes it!  I hope her dad likes it, too.

Thanks for stopping by again today.  Scroll on down to see my card for Mo's challenge this week, and a little further to see an awesome display of God's creation.

Gosh Barb, you've been very busy today sweetie!
So sorry I haven't commented for a while, but I have been visiting (honest!)
I just love what you did with this beautiful image and it sounds like it's exactly what Leslie wanted.
What you did with the 'merging' was so clever, I may keep this in mind for the future as I can't merge images digitally.

OH!!! This is BEAUTIFUL! Just beautiful!!! I love the image and the papers you matched with it. My daddy and I would silly dance together. I would dance with him in his ratty old sweat pants and old work shirt through the grocery store even when I was a teenager. The last time we danced was at my wedding. ... and it was more like standing there in a posed position crying.. I love this in SO many ways. I was just thinking the same thing... about how a daddy always sees his little girl as his baby, no matter what. OK ... wahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Barb, this is sooo special and wonderful that I can barely type through the tears. I will always be a Daddy's girl and have special memories of standing on his feet while we danced around when I was little. When I got married I chose to respect my in laws religious views on dancing and did not have it at the wedding. To this day I haven't gotten over the fact I couldn't dance with my Daddy on that special occasion. He was a wonderful dancer and I'm an only child. What I wouldn't give to dance with him now. I'm sure your friend is everjoyed with the card and her Daddy will treasure it forever! xxD
