Whiff of Joy Summer Stroll

Another favorite challenge for me is Whiff of Joy, which now is posted every two weeks.  I've been so far behind I've actually missed deadlines for this challenge!  Well, not this time!  Bev provided a wonderful sketch that looks great at any angle.

I chose to rotate it one turn to the left for this image.

This is "Autumn Charlotte", but I colored her in Copics summery hues and left off the leaves.  (Click here to see the whole image which is great for fall!) The papers are actually from my scrap box and coincidently matched the image. I have a bad habit of coloring several images at a time without any specific dp in mind.  So I am really lucky when it all comes together!  The ribbon perfectly "tied" it all together, then I added some little silk flowers from the bridal dept. at Hobby Lobby.  I like looking for sales in the jewelry-making departments at craft stores, and that is where I found this gold butterfly.  The bottom edge of the top layer is a MS punch.

Charlotte is a lovely image for any time of year.  I'm sure she will appear again in the fall!

Thank you for stopping by today.  It's good to see everyone in the comments again!

Whiff of Joy Challenge --- Gift Card/Money Holder

This is Mother's Day week and I am busily putting together cards for moms in my life as well as cards for the shop.  Most of my challenge cards this week will have Mom in mind.

Whiff of Joy is thinking about Moms, too, as well as anyone else who will enjoy getting gift cards or cash for a special event.  I really love the tent-style cards so here is Willow with a recipe book; maybe she will be making a special treat for her mom.

The image is colored with Copics and sits on layers of patterned paper from Daisy D's and cardstock.  The wreath of flowers is Prima Nursery Tales collection.  The rose charm is Nouveau Colour jewelry pendant from Michael's and the sentiment is computer generated.  Colored pearls finish off the embellies.

So, where is the gift card holder?

On the back!  This envelope, made with matching dp, will hold a gift card..... I'm just not telling who's!!

Thank you for stopping by!  To my friends in Tennessee, especially Nashville, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this unbelievable flood tragedy.

Two Cards..... Two Challenges: WOJ and CCC

After a very busy weekend I treated myself to a 3-hour nap today.  I'm not a napper, but it really was rejuvenating because I was able to get into the studio and finish two cards for two of my favorite challenges.

First is the Whiff of Joy Challenge #75 using the colors yellow and green with an additional color.  I added pink to the mix.

This image from last year's WOJ summer kit is colored with Copics YG23, Y08, and RV25, primarily.  The dp is from my scrap pile and had all the colors I wanted for this warm, summer card.  The flowers are Prima "Got Flowers" (there's a LOT of flowers in that little jar!), the label sentiment from KI Memories, and the embossed flowers are Cuttlebug border folder.  It's all topped of with little pearls and delicious ribbon from the Target dollar bin (can you believe it?!).  I don't know about you but I am craving lemonade right now!

_________________________________________________

Now for the Copic Colour Challenge #60.  It's a great color combination that lent itself well to a card for a little boy to give to his mama for Mother's Day.

I didn't have the exact Copics so I used B91, E49, and Y21, primarily.  I was really surprised to find this dp in my scrapbook stash.  It contains all of these colors!  The image is a cutie from Mo Manning called "Sorry", and I think he also works well for a Mother's Day card.  The ribbon is from the Michael's dollar bin (gotta love those dollar bins!) and the sentiment is computer generated.

What mama could resist this little face?

So many cards to make......... so little time!  No more 3-hour naps for me!

Thanks for stopping by!  Your time and comments are so appreciated.  I hope your week is fantastic!

A Dragonfly for Luck

During my recent hiatus I missed a few of my favorite challenges, even though I had the card pieces laid out and ready to assemble.  One of those cards was for the Whiff of Joy Challenge #72, a beautiful sketch by Bev,  and I cased Paola's nifty idea to made this into an accordian-fold card. The papers are from Heidi Grace Designs -- love these colors!

The stamps are from the new Blooming Spring collection, only available at retailers.  The images are so lovely and really put me in the mood for all things garden.  This bird bath is colored with Copics W0, W1, W3, W5.  The water is B12, B16, B18.  Various shades of YG and G for the vines climbing the stem.  I love dragonflies and sometimes I think I bought the kit for this cutey!  He is colored with Copics G0000, G00, V0000, V000, V01 and coated with Spica gel pens lilac and clear.  Rhinestones add more glitter and complement the swirls in the dragonfly's wings.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I know how busy your weekends are.  Be sure to stop by the Sunday Sketch and Stamp challenge blog tomorrow.  We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary and have some fun things in store for you!  You just might see some more spring in bloom here ;-)

Copic Colour Challenge #56 --- Shades of Lavender, Green, and Blue on a Whiff of Joy Sketch

The Copic Colour Challenge last week was a doozy!  I had fun with it though.  This week's color combo is so lovely and I got to use a new stamp, new paper, a new sketch and ribbon I've been dying to use.  Here is the color combo:

Such pretty colors!  I actually had to substitute BV01 Viola for the BV02 and G00 Jade Green for the G02.  Then I used this fun sketch from the Whiff of Joy Inspirations and Tutorial blog.

And here is my card:

The image is from Whiff of Joy's new Blooming Spring stamp kit.  It is only available at stores so check with your favorite store and if they don't have it whimper, cry, stomp your feet --- anything to get them to stock it! :)  Along with the colors in the combo I used other shades for depth.  Here are the deets:  Blouse:  BV01, BV04, BV0000; Skirt: B32, B34, B21; Apron G00, G12; Hair: E07, E08, E09, E000; Skin: E000, E21

The beautiful designer paper is from the new Penny Lane collection by My Mind's Eye.  The flowered strip looks like DP, but is actually sheer ribbon attached to a piece of aqua card stock to show off the flowers.  I love this ribbon and this was a perfect place to use it! I also made a matching envelope with the template that comes with the Martha Stewart scoring board.

How about some detail pics?
This card will be going to a friend for Easter, but I'm not telling who!
I'm so glad you stopped by today.  I hope your weekend has been restful and your Sunday joyful!

Whiff of Joy Challenge #70 --- Jane's Sketch

Happy weekend, everyone! This has been a busy week and it doesn't look like it will be slowing down any time soon.  That's a good thing, tho'!  But it has put me a little behind in creating and posting cards for my favorite challenges!  I hope to do two posts today, but let's get to the first one.

The Whiff of Joy challenge this week is a sketch designed by Jane.  She does really interesting and challenging sketches, like this one:

For my card I pulled an image from the WOJ Fall 2009 collection, Willow Holding Baby Turkey.  I've had it colored for some time (with Copics, of course!) and thought this would be a very nice showcase for it.  The papers are from 7 Gypsies, as are the tags.  Even though I don't usually use the tags and labels in the scrapbooking kits, I really liked these.  I rubbed the word "Life" on the sentiment.  It's been awhile since I colored it and didn't keep track of the Copic colors.

I hope to post another card this evening (after I do photos for THREE small weddings).  It will be a color challenge and this time I kept track of the Copic colors I used! I hope you come back to see it.

Thanks for stopping by and taking time from your weekend.  I appreciate it!  Be sure to hop over to the Whiff of Joy challenge blog to see the DT's amazing projects!

Bah! Humbug! Challenge #8 --- Stitching, Real or Faux

Thanks to Bah! Humbug! challenges I have several Christmas cards done for the next holiday.  I look forward to this challenge each week and the spirit of the holidays it brings.  This week's challenge is to use real or faux stitching. My sewing machine is still packed away somewhere and I haven't been in a hurry to find it! I started sewing at the machine when I was 5 years old and went on to make all of my own clothes, my husband's clothes -- even tailored suits, my son's clothes and lots of sewing crafts over the years.  Then I found paper!

I have a stack of images I colored for last Christmas and didn't get them made into cards, so I chose this fun image of Whiff of Joy's Willow.  I had colored it in monochromatic Copics to use on a clean and simple card.   Notice the cross stitches at the top of Willow's boots?  My Cuttlebug embossing border folder of zig zag stitches was a great accent and I traced the embossing with a fine point Sharpie.  Then I drew straight stitches around the oval.  The Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder carried through the winter theme.  With some black brads in the corners and silver stick-on dots next to Willow I have a card better than the original plan!  I hope you like it, too!

For a great start on holiday cards hop on over to Bah! Humbug! and join in the fun!  If you are already "Humbugging" I'll stop by and take a look! Thanks for stopping by today!  I appreciate your visit and comments.

Two Challenges, Two Color Themes

Whiff of Joy, one of my favorite challenges as well as stamp creators, has a color theme this week which tingles the senses of taste and smell as well as sight.  Coffee and Cream --- Mmmmm!

WOJ's "Willow Reading a Story" is such a sweet image.  I've colored it a couple of times, but this one I really like.  The warm coffee colors make this scene look like a quiet evening of reading and togetherness.  I used Copics E07, E17, E29, E31, E37, and E41 along with E00 and E000 for the skin.  The DP is from a brand new DCWV collection called "At Home".  Flowers from my stash, and a lovely angel charm from Blue Moon Tokens.

Copic Colour Challenge, because I LOVE Copics, presented quite a challenging color theme.

I didn't have the exact colors so I substituted BG13 and B91.  I do have Y21, which I use a lot!  For depth and shading I used BG10, B95, and Y15.  Here is my card:
The illustration is the adorable "Savannah on Easter" by Mo Manning, a brand new digital image.  She absolutely makes me laugh!  The DP is from Making Memories "English Garden", which I am going to miss when I use it all up!  Flowers, ribbon, and buttons are from my stash.
I hope you enjoyd looking at my cards as much as I enjoyed creating them.  I've had the opportunity to meet so many incredibly talented people in this blogging community.  The inspiration, sharing and encouragement I've received makes this the greatest network for our craft.  So, many thanks to all who visit here and for your comments.  Please be sure to visit Whiff of Joy and Copic Colour Challenge for more inspiration and oooos and aaaahhhhs!

Have a wonderful week!

Whiff of Joy Challenge #68 -- Bev's Sketch and Inspiration from a Catalog

When you look at the beautiful bedding ensembles in the Penney's Home Sale catalogs do you think about how they would look in your home?  Or do you get inspiration for color schemes for cards?  If I had all the bedding ensembles that I have fallen in love with I'd have to own a hotel to display them all!  So I do the next best thing --- I save the pages and use them for inspiration for color schemes!  I did just that along with the great sketch for the Whiff of Joy Challenge #68.  Here is Bev's wonderful sketch for this week:
And here is my inspiration for the color scheme:
Isn't this pretty?  And here is my card.....
The beautiful Melinda looks so pretty in any color scheme, but I did this one in a partial monochromatic.  The Copic colors are:  E000, E00, E02 for her skin; E04, E11 for her hair; E13, E15, E17 for her dress; E31, E33, E35 for the underdress and pantaloons.  The DP is 7 Gypsies Savannah collection layered on a card blank made with Bazzill card stock.  The sentiment is a rub-on that I put on a card that came with the collection.  Flowers from Prima and pearls from my stash.

I'm quite happy with this card and I hope you like it, too.  If you want to see some truly stunning cards, be sure to hop over to the WOJ challenge blog and see the DT's creations!

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you are having a great week!

Whiff Of Joy Challenge #67 --- Pearls and Swirls

The Whiff of Joy challenge this week has me thinking elegance and movement --- Pearls and Swirls.  I had just purchased a package of Prima pearl scrolls and couldn't wait to use them.  This was the perfect project!

Using a favorite image of Melinda with a basket of muffins (colored with Copics), I chose a bold DP from K&Company "Que Sera Sera" collection of double-sided card stock.  A simple column of brown CS punched with the new Martha Stewart lace punch runs under the image. Then swirls of pearls, topped with a single Prima flower.  Again I went out of my comfort zone with the colors, but I like the results.

Because WOJ has a wonderful companion stamp of a basket of muffins, I placed that on the inside of the card.

Leaving the card blank on the inside invites a more personal note, whether it be birthday or just a friendly thought.

Well, it is Friday already and the weekend is here.  Thank you for taking time to stop by.  I hope you have some good quality time with family and friends this weekend --- that is when you're not blogging and creating!  :-)

Whiff of Joy Challenge #66 --- Jane's Sketch

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I hope the week is going well for you.  The Whiff of Joy Challenge blog has a very talented design team and this week Jane posted a great sketch for us.

For my card I used this image of "Willow writing recipes", though she could be writing just about anything.  Here she is writing a sweet note to someone she misses.

Willow is colored with Copics and framed with Nesties.  The DP is Basic Grey's Porcelain collection, one of my favorites.  The border is punched with Martha Stewart, flowers from Prima, the paper clip from Making Memories, sentiment from a collection of stickers, and a scrap of lace from my scrap box.  This is a different assortment of colors than I normally would do, but I like the finished look.

I really love this image from WOJ.  It's quiet and thoughtful.  Fun to color, too!  Be sure to hop on over to the WOJ Challenge blog and take a look at the gorgeous projects by the DT.  So much inspiration in one place!

Thank you for stopping by!  Are you ready for Valentine's Day?
