ODBD His Gift --- Twice

One of the loveliest spots of color this time of year is the red poinsettia.  I like the white ones, too, but the red is my favorite.  When I saw the gorgeous "His Gift" set at Our Daily Bread Designs, it quickly became my favorite poinsettia stamp and I just had to have it for this year's card collection.

I used this set for two commissioned cards but couldn't decide which one to use in this post.  So, I am showing both of them.  The cards are nearly alike, but like all handmade cards should be, there are some differences.

His Gift #1 --- This one stays true to vintage with an off-white doily and ivory pearl swirls.

His Gift #2 --- I ran out of off-white doilies so this one is white and the pearl swirls are white and placed differently than the first card.

The verse inside both cards is part of the set.

The coloring is done with my favorite Copic reds, golds and pine tree green.

Here's the question to ponder for this post:
As the Christmas season approaches, what song is it that you just can't wait to hear?
For me that would be "O Holy Night"

Have a wonderful weekend!

Busy, Busy, But Here's a Quickie to Keep In Touch

It's been a very busy week, with house cleaning, holiday decorating, and card making. Then I let myself get quite worn down and had to take a day to rest. I still have my cards to get finished and mailed out (some might be a tad late)!

My son arrived today safe and sound. He had a great drive from Norfolk, VA. Saturday we will take a drive up to Leavenworth, Kansas to look for his next home. I get to drive his little yellow Mazda Miata!! That will be a change of perspective from my 4x4 truck!

Anyway, a quick look tonight at another easel card that I gave to a dear friend. The lovely country church image is from Our Daily Bread Designs, colored with Copics and glittered for sparkle. The embossing is Cuttlebug folders and the dp is from K&Company. I love the shimmery card stock that I found years ago at an office supply store in Phoenix. I sure hope I can find more when this is gone!

Gotta run! I'll have more later, especially Sunday when Sunday Sketch and Stamp posts Challenge #18 --- and it is my sketch this time!

Thanks for stopping by! Don't get so busy you get worn out like I did. Take time to enjoy!

A Special Father's Day Card

Father's Day is this Sunday, June 21st, and I have made a few simple masculine cards. It is often a challenge for me to leave off the flower and sparkles, but with stamps like this amazing lighthouse from the "Keep My Lamp Burning" collection at Our Daily Bread Designs.

This card is for my very special uncle who has been like my own father. My own father died suddenly when I was very young. He was my uncle's little brother. I love my uncle very much for all that he and my aunt (see the Mother's Day card for her) have done for us.

I stamped the image on Kraft paper, as well as the sentiment. The card base is also Kraft paper. The DP is scrapbook paper I recently purchased, but I forgot to get the name before I attached it to the card. With black card stock to highlight the image and a touch of herringbone ribbon and gold pearls, I like what is see.

The inside will have a personal note. I also stamped his favorite Bible verse which was in the ODBD set "He Is Risen". His love for our Lord and Saviour is the foundation of his life, and he is an inspiration to so many.
Thanks for stopping by. The time you spend here and the comments you leave are much appreciated!
