Copic Colour Challenge #63 --- Pink and Blue

Yep, this is my second post today!  In fact, there will be three posts as I catch up from last week which was very busy, but very fun.

The Copic Colour Challenge this week uses pastel blues and pink.

I substituted BG10 Cool Shadow for BG11 and BG01 Aqua Blue for BG02.

I wanted to stay away from my first thought, which was a baby card, but ended up using Mo Manning's "Baby Fairy Yuriko" anyway.  She is a new illustration and I hadn't colored her yet.  I'm glad I did and added a bit of whimsy when using the Copic colors to add to the fairy magic. When coloring her dress I blended the three colors together and added clear Spica glitz, trying to achieve a gossamer look, as in her wings.  Her hair, in bright yellows, is hightlighted further with gold Spica, as though taken from the sun itself.

The gorgeous cutout paper is from KI Memories that I bought back in 2007.  I tend to horde my favorite papers. Silly, isn't it? But I'm glad I pulled it out of my treasure chest.  The sketch for this card is really very simple, but the cutout paper adds so much flair!   Then I added beaded flowers from Michael's putting butterflies where the rhinestone centers originally were.

I do love this little fairy!  Love the hummingbird, too!  I hope you visit the Copic Colour Challenge and see the wonderful creations by the DT.  Play along, too, if you haven't already.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

Busy Beauties Creation Station Challenge: Red or Blue or Both!

With a very busy week behind me I am now catching up on my favorite challenges.  You may know that I am one of the very lucky ladies to be on the Busy Beauties Boutique DT, a group of very talented women who are also wonderful friends.

Recently Busy Beauties launched the Creation Station Challenge blog.  Last Thursday the challenge for Red or Blue or Both went up.  Very simple, really.  You can use any image you want to, especially Busy Beauty if you have them, and use any colors as long as red or blue, or both, appear somewhere on your project.  I chose to put red on my card.  In fact, that's the only color (except her hair).  Not only that, but I made an attempt at a clean and simple card sketch.  Not easy, but I think I passed the test.

Now, this might be a clean and simple card, but the image is anything but ordinary. This little beauty is Sailor Gal.  Gotta love her hair!  She is colored with Copics and sits on die cuts from Nestibilities.  The embossed layer of swirls is Cuttlebug.
There is still plenty of time to jump in and join us in this two week challenge which started on May 6.  All the deets and prize info is at the Busy Beauties Creation Station.  I look forward to seeing your projects.

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome week!

Fresh Brewed Designs Cinco de Mayo Celebration Blog Hop!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone!  Fresh Brewed Designs is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with all new releases that are HOT HOT HOT!  Not only that, but we are also unveiling our brand new FBD Challenge Blog, which you will see later, because to kick it all off we have a blog hop for you today!  If you came here from our gorgeous and talented Heather's blog then you are on the right track.  If not you might want to jump back just one space and start with her for all the deets.

Now, on to my card for the hop.  I am celebrating my 6th wedding anniversary today, too!  Lots to celebrate today, for sure!

Yep, these new images are HOT!  Just like my DH!  Happy Anniversary, Honey!
Actually, when I saw all the hot Cinco de Mayo images I started craving the food at our favorite place in Phoenix, Macayo's.  The best chimis ever!  But, I digress...... I colored this hot couple with Copics and they sit on a dahlia die cut from Nestibilities.  The curly flowers are actually made from the dahlia Nestibilities dies, too.  Here's a few pics of how I made them..........
Using three of the dies I cut one from each of three colored papers.  The large flower uses the three largest dies, then I dropped down a size for the smaller flower.  I cut slits between the petals to extend their length.  I wanted to curl them tight and because of the small size I needed something really skinny to roll the petals on.  So, this paper piercer worked the best.  This paper was pretty thin with little specks in it and held the curl really well.  As a final touch I added the painted brads you see in the finished card.

So, while my honey and I celebrate today, you all can continue the hop over at the amazing Catherine's blog. Catherine is one of our guest designers this week. You might recognize her from the Busy Beauty Boutique DT.  We love her a LOT!  Also today we welcome Kym, another one of our welcomed guest designers, who you will meet in a few hops from here.

I hope you enjoy the blog hop and our new challenge blog.  There you will be able to put names to faces!

Thanks for stopping by!  Whatever you are celebrating today, I hope it is terrific!

Bah! Humbug! Challenge --- Snowflakes

Ok, so I did get in 3 posts today.  I guess I just couldn't wait to get this little guy colored and posted for the Bah! Humbug! Snowflake challenge.  The illustration is "Kai in the snow" by Mo Manning.  As you can tell, I am a "Mo Addict" but since I discovered her after last Christmas, I haven't collected many seasonal images.  With the snowflake theme this week I knew Kai would be perfect, so a-shopping I went!  I love digis for the instant gratification!

Here is Kai:

Isn't he adorable?  I colored his snowsuit a bright red using Copics and stayed with the red/white scheme for the whole card.  The white background is glitter cardstock, though it didn't photograph very sparkly.  I used the Martha Stewart punch-around snowflakes set (love these!).  The large snowflakes are also MS punch, one in white glitter and 2 in metallic star paper. There is some glitter tinsel scattered around Kai.  I made the sentiment on the computer using CK snow font.

We are hitting the 80's here in Missouri, but come December Kai will be saying......

So, there is my Christmas fix for this week!  Aaahhhh! Where're the eggnog and candy canes?  For more holiday inspiration be sure to visit the Queens of Christmas over at Bah! Humbug!  Thank you so much for stopping by...... again!

Copic Colour Challenge --- Mother's Day Tea Party

This is my second post today --- doing a bit of catching up!  Who knows?  There just might be a third one ... nah!

Anyway, the Copic Colour Challenge gave us a lovely set of colors to work with this week.  I replaced the BV02 with BV01 Viola.

As I said in the previous post I am focused on Mother's Day this week.  When I saw this illustration from Mo Manning, memories of dressing up in my mother's clothes came flooding back!  Remember when we just couldn't wait to grow up and fill those beautiful high heels of Mom's?  These days I wouldn't be able to walk across the room in those heels!  Here is the sweet illustration "Tea Party" for Mother:

I used the Martha Stewart punch around set on a 10.5 x 5 inch piece of white cardstock, folded in half and lined with lime green dp.  The striped dp coordinates with the lime green.  Both are from Daisy D's.  The illustration is colored with the selected Copics and shades slightly darker for depth. The sentiment is computer generated.  The boa was my inspiration for using the feathers rather than flowers and the usual embellies.  Maybe I am a bit biased, but I really love this card! It is fairly simple, but so much fun!

Isn't she cute? I love those long white gloves!

I hope all the mothers out there are treated to a day of love and laughter... and maybe a spot of tea!

Whiff of Joy Challenge --- Gift Card/Money Holder

This is Mother's Day week and I am busily putting together cards for moms in my life as well as cards for the shop.  Most of my challenge cards this week will have Mom in mind.

Whiff of Joy is thinking about Moms, too, as well as anyone else who will enjoy getting gift cards or cash for a special event.  I really love the tent-style cards so here is Willow with a recipe book; maybe she will be making a special treat for her mom.

The image is colored with Copics and sits on layers of patterned paper from Daisy D's and cardstock.  The wreath of flowers is Prima Nursery Tales collection.  The rose charm is Nouveau Colour jewelry pendant from Michael's and the sentiment is computer generated.  Colored pearls finish off the embellies.

So, where is the gift card holder?

On the back!  This envelope, made with matching dp, will hold a gift card..... I'm just not telling who's!!

Thank you for stopping by!  To my friends in Tennessee, especially Nashville, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this unbelievable flood tragedy.

Sunday Sketch and Stamp #27 --- Ger's Sketch and Busy Beauties Boutique

Happy May, everybody! It's hard to believe we are well into spring and headed for summer already!  We here at Sunday Sketch and Stamp are so excited to be starting our second year.  So many new talented friends have come our way and we couldn't be happier!

The challenge this week is a sketch by Ger which I found to be fun to work with and has limited possibilities.  I can't wait to see what you all come up with!  Extra-special for me is that the Busy Beauties Boutique is the sponsor for this fortnight.  My friend and all 'round talented lady, Carolyn Bounds, kicked off the BBB digital stamps a few months ago and it is my privilege to be part of her incredible design team, too.  She has offered up some terrific prizes for us here at SS&S so be sure to hop in with your cards!

Here is Ger's sketch:

....... and my card:

Busy Beauties recently released a very fun set of Alice In Wonderland digital stamps.  This is Alice.  Isn't she pretty?  Wait till you see the other characters:  the Caterpillar, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Scrapper, the Rabbitt, and more!  I colored this image with Copics and used a fun selection of dp I just picked up at Michaels.  The charm says "Dream".  Here's a close-up:

Thank you for stopping by today! I am looking forward to seeing your creations with this sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp!

Bah! Humbug! Challenge --- Pretty In Pink

Here I am, just under the wire for the 15th Bah! Humbug! challenge.  This week the theme is "pretty in pink".  I just happened to have this image already colored, so it was a quick composition.

The little darlin' Willow from Whiff of Joy is colored with Copics and I made quick work of the card with a sheet of dp from a DCWV stack of a couple of years ago.  I really like pink and green together, so it was no surprise that Willow's scarf is colored in green.  The stick-on foam snowflakes were found in the kids craft section of Oriental Trading Company and the ribbon from my stash.  The pink paper behind the image is embossed with the ornaments Cuttlebug folder.

Aaahhhh.  Another Christmas card done!  I wonder if I'll get my shopping done as early as my stack of cards.... hmmm.  Probably not --- I'd rather be making cards than shopping!

I hope you are having a great week!  Anytime is a good time for Christmas cards, so hop on over to Bah! Humbug! and check out the DT's festive creations.  A new challenge will be posted on Friday..... join in the fun!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday --- Warning: Chocolate OD Possible!!

I am so proud to be part of the Busy Beauties DT.  Not only is this the most loving and supportive group of ladies, but also multi-talented!  This week we are sponsoring the Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge.  I have to admit I had not visited this challenge blog before, but now it is a favorite!  More talent and inspiration is in store when you hop over to take a look!

Here is their fun sketch for this week:

And here is my card for the sketch.  I did warn you about the chocolate, now didn't I?  I love this tower of cakes!  The image is Busy Beauties "Eat Cake" and I just had to color it in shades of chocolate.  I wonder if that has anything to do with the bag of assorted Hershey's kisses I just bought?  Hmmmm?

The cakes are colored in with all the shades of chocolate I could find in my Copics stash!!  The luscious strawberries and pretty red bow provided the accent color.  I have had some sheets of the chocolate icing scrapbook paper in my closet for years and this was the perfect time to break it out!  Yummmm!  The ribbon is a nice woven that had the perfect color combo.  I love it when a card comes together!

Inside the card is a simple Mother's Day sentiment on a nice layer of chocolate icing!

I'm so glad you stopped by today and I hope you hop over to Sweet Sketch Wednesday to check out their creations and to play along.

This card is a recycled front with the addition of the new BB image "Spring Flowers", colored with Copics.  I know Grandma would have loved this card!

Bah! Humbug! Challenge --- Santa Paws!

Wow, talk about making up for lost time!  I have yet another card to show you today.  This card is for the Bah! Humbug! Santa Paws challenge this week.  This was very fun; all we had to do was make a card with a cute, cuddly critter on it --- Christmas critter, that is.  I found this Mo Manning drawing called "Not Even A Mouse".  I love this cuddled up cute critter!  He (or she) is cradled in a tea cup with a tea bag for pillow.  All are colored with Copics.  The papers are scraps from past Christmas cards and the ribbon is a versatile edged-stitch woven ribbon from Michael's.  The buttons were in a bag of Christmas embellies, but I can't remember where I got that.

What an adorable image and it is sure to be used again and again this coming Christmas!  Thanks to the lovely ladies at Bah! Humbug! I now have more than a dozen cards already made for Christmas!  Come join the fun!

I must give credit for the sketch to Cheri at Graphicat Creations.  She is one talented lady and I loved this sketch of hers.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you come back tomorrow because there will be twice the fun!  Busy Beauties Boutique will be hosting a blog hop with new releases AND announcing a new challenge!  You won't believe you eyes!

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge #27 --- Peggy's Sketch

The challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil is this great sketch from Peggy
I am working on my stock of Mother's Day cards this week, so I chose the adorable "Sorry Shanna".  You might notice her resemblance to "Sorry Shawn" that I used yesterday.  They are both such cuties.  This time I colored the image with a dry brush and Distress Ink pads.  Dress:  tattered rose; hair: scattered straw; flowers: worn lipstick; shoes: walnut stain; stems, grass, leaves: pine needles.  The dp is from Daisy D's.  I found some antique lace that I wove pink ribbon through and topped it off with a feather butterfly.

The greeting on the outside of the card and the sentiment on the inside are computer-generated.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  For some real inspiration be sure to hop over to Mo's Digital Pencil challenge blog.  Oh, my goodness!  The DT's cards are amazing!
