Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

On the third Wednesday of each month the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. has our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) blog hop.  This is when we use neglected and forgotten items from our stashes.  The Design D.I.V.A.S. is a private Facebook group which is a branch of the Original Design D.I.V.A.S. on the Splitcoaststampers website.  The acronym for the D.I.V.A.S. is Divine Inspirational Virtuous Artistic (or anointed) Sistahs.  This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of.  Thank you for stopping by and we hope you enjoy the hop. If you came here from the lovely Maria's blog you are on the right track.  To start at the beginning hop on over to  my awesome friend Cindy's blog

For my card I used this luscious image of Anastasia by Make It Crafty

The photo looks darker than I intended, sorry.  Basically the red, black and silver combination seems to be a favorite of mine lately.  The image is new, but the flowers and brads are from my neglected stash.  The frame is Nestibilities and one that I rarely use.  It's not that I don't like it --- I actually LOVE it but I often end up with images too large to fit.  This one is just right!  The papers are from my scrap pile and the border nearly hidden underneath is a Martha Stewart punch.

Here's a close-up.  I colored the image with Copics and highlighted the red roses and hair with more bling. I like how this turned out and I'm happy to share it with you.  Now, be sure you visit all the talented D.I.V.A.S. in the hop!  You'll be so inspired!  Your next stop is my talented friend Sue's blog.  Thanks for stopping by!

Design D.I.V.A.S.

If you came here from the lovely Vicki's blog you are on the right track.  To start at the beginning hop on over to Linda's awesome blog

For my card I used a K & Co. dp stack that I have had for years but haven't used for nearly that long.  I have several sets like this and, thanks to a recent article in "Paper Creations", I now know what I am going to do to use up these older papers.  Cards designed by Erica Duda on pages 56-57 of the Summer 2012 issue gave me the inspiration for this card.  The card is really easy-peasy!  Once I decided on the assortment of coordinating papers it was just a matter of cutting them into a variety of sizes using the Nestabilities Large Scallop Circles and the assorted leaves dies. All layers are stacked with 3D tape.  The background looks like strips of papers, but is actually one of the papers in the stack.  I just added some antique lace and the brass center in the flower.  Quick and colorful notecard!

You can be sure I will be making more of these cards, with the scallops as well as other floral shaped dies!  I hope you like it and that you have new inspiration for using that old dp that just keeps stacking up.  I am on a "paper diet" --- no new papers until I use up the oldies but goodies!

I am the last stop on the hop so, on behalf of all my Divine Sistahs, we are so happy you took time to hop with us.  I hope you left lots of love in the comments --- these are very talented ladies and deserve lots of kudos!

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Hop and DP2 Challenge

Lately I've been really busy with photo shoots so cardmaking has taken a back seat.  However, I needed a card for a friend who turned 90 years young last week, and it just happened to fit in with the D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies blog hop and the challenge over at Mo Manning's DP2 Challenge.

So, first to the OBD Blog Hop.

If you came here from the lovely Vicki's blog you are on the right track.  To start at the beginning hop on over to Maria's awesome blog.

For my card I used a Mo Manning digi "The Engineer" which I haven't used for over a year.  The dp is from a neglected stack and the brads are the last of a package I've had since Washington crossed the Potomac!

I colored this fun image with Copics.  As I mentioned, the card is for a 90-year old friend, so the sentiment on the inside read "Growing older is mandatory.  Growing up is optional."  Talk about and oldie but goodie! Happy Birthday, Harold!

Now, I am also entering this in the DP2 challenge #134 "Tickle My Funny Bone".  The only requirement is to use one of Mo's images, and she has plenty that will make you chuckle!  Hop on over to see the fun the DT had with this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to move on to Mary's blog for her inspiring project.  We appreciate the time you spend on our Design D.I.V.A.S. blog hop.

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

It's the third Wednesday of April already which means it's time for the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. to have our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) Blog Hop.  This is when we use neglected and forgotten items from out stashes.  The Design D.I.V.A.S. is a private Facebook group which is a branch of the Original Desing D.I.V.A.S.  on the Splitcoaststampers website.  The acronym for the D.I.V.A.S. is Divine Inspirational Virtous Artistic (or annointed) Sistahs.  This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of.  Thank you for stopping by and we hope you enjoy the hop!

If you came here from our lovely and awesome Sue's blog you are on the right track.  To start at the beginning hop on back to see the clever creativity of  Vicki.

For my project I used a couple of neglected items. First, the ladder was made with the smallest rectangle Nestibility.  I don't think I have ever used the smaller dies, but repeatedly running it through the Cuttlebug on Kraft paper worked really well for this little ladder.

This image is Mo Manning's "Playing Firefighter".  He is really intent on getting the fire out in his little high-rise made of blocks.  The neglected item here is the Inksentials Glossy Accent on his hat and coat.  It gave it that nice shiny/wet look.

As hard as it is for me to keep the cards simple (for me white space just begs for filler) this was really an easy peasy card.  Black background topped with bands of the primary colors and a black rhinestone swirl to look like smoke make for a fun background to the colored image.  Afterall, it is the image that I want to showcase.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have been enjoying the Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop and there is more!  Your next stop is at our uber-talented Heather's.

Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

It's the third Wednesday of March already which means it's time for the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. to have our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) Blog Hops. This is when we use neglected and forgotten items from our stashes.  The Design D.I.V.A.S. is a private Facebook group, which is a branch of the Original Design D.I.V.A.S. on the Splitcoaststampers website. The acronym for the D.I.V.A.S is, Divine, Inspirational, Virtuous, Artistic (or annointed) Sistahs. This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of. Thank you for stopping by and we hope you enjoy the hop! If you came here from our awesome Sistah Sue at Sue's Sentiments then you are on the right track.  She kicked off this hop for us, and is always a tough act to follow, but I will give it a try!

I bought my Cricut way back when they first came on the market.  As much as I love it, the Cricut is probably the most neglected tool in my arsenal.  I think the last time I used it was to cut out letters for posters for my son's wedding back in July!  But since then I have acquired cartridges that I think will get much more use, especially for cards.  So, my Oldie But Goodie this month is my Cricut.

In a major diversion from my usual stamped-Copic-colored-embellishment-laden-multi-layered projects, I made these two notecard and tag sets using the Damask Decor cartridge which is full of beautiful designs perfect for cards like these.  They were so easy!

The cartridge includes patterns for envelopes for the cards, which measure 4" x 6", and the package says this can be used by all Cricuts.  However, my little ancient Cricut takes paper only 6" wide and I couldn't make the envelopes.  I think there might be an upgrade in my future!

Now it's time to hop on over to our lovely Sistah Heather's at Heather's Coffee Break for a cuppa and a whole lot of inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy the hop!

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop Is Back for 2012!

It's the third Wednesday of February already which means it's time for the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. to have our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) Blog Hop.
This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of . Thank you for stopping by and we hope you enjoy the hop!

If you arrived here from our talented Maria's blog Maria Matters then you are on the right track. To start at the beginning jump back to Cindy's Antics where you are sure to love her project!

Now, on to my project.  This is the first project I've done since before Christmas!  I really needed a break for awhile, but I haven't exactly been laying around eating bon bons!  My studio has been under a new austerity program and many unused and neglected tools and materials will be on the auction block.  But I did keep enough to meet the criteria of 6 months of collecting dust.  Today I used a an image that I had colored months ago.  This is Joy by Sugar Nellie.  Also, the DP is from the DCWV At Home stack which I haven't used since last spring, about the same time I used the Martha Stewart Butterfly border punch along the bottom.

I didn't get this done in time to take a photo with natural light so I'm not very happy with the color density.  But, I think you get the general idea.

Here is a close up, and the colors are more like real life.  The image is colored with Copics.  I love these images with the shading detail.  Coloring is minimal, which isn't easy for me to do sometimes.  But the lighter touch with the Copic is all that is needed for this adorable image.  There is a new element in this project.  I used the Nestabilities Labels 18 for the image and background.

The butterfly is made from the large and small MS punches.  Rhinestones swirls add a bit of bling.

Aaahhh!  It really did feel good to work on cards again!  I have a new outlet to sell my cards so I'd better keep at it!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are enjoying the hop!  Now, off you go to see what out talented Sue has for you at Sue's Sentiments.

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies November Blog Hop

It's the third Wednesday of November already which means it's time for the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. to have our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) Blog Hop.
This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of . Thank you for stopping by and we hope you enjoy the hop!

If you arrived here from our talented Sue's blog A Consuming Passion then you are on the right track. To start at the beginning jump back to Creating With Chrissy where you are sure to love her project!

Now, on to my project, or actually projects, plural. I'm working on some simple note card sets and the three I did today are all made with long neglected stamps or embossing folders.

This "Merry Christmas" stamp is by Stampabilities.  I bought it years ago and inked it up for the first time today using Colorbox Chianti pigment ink.  The card is made with simple white and red card stocks.  The embossed strip is from a new embossing folder by The Paper Studio.

You can't get much easier than this card!  The Cuttlebug Christmas Tree embossing folder is a favorite and a card all by itself!  I sanded the embossing lightly to highlight the image then applied shiny glitter stickers. Easy peasy!

The trees on this card are actually two stamps, both from Northwoods, that I've had for a couple of years.  The larger image was stamped twice without re-inking.  Then the smaller grouping of trees was stamped once.  Ink for both was Brilliance Pearlescent Ivy pigment ink.  The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farm and embossed with red powder. Again I used white and red cardstocks for the card.

I plan to make several more of these sets, because I have LOTS of fun holiday stamps and embellies to use. Besides, once I catch on to the clean and simple style I find it is a lot of fun!  I just have to follow one rule:  no more than three elements on the card!

I am the last stop on the hop and I want to express my thanks on behalf of all the D.I.V.A.S. for your visits and leaving us each a bit of love.  That goes both ways, you know!

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

It's the third Wednesday of October which means it's time for the Facebook chapter of the Design D.I.V.A.S. to have our Oldies But Goodies (OBD) Blog Hop.
This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of . October is a busy month for everyone, but we have four die-hard D.I.V.A.S. participating.

Our lovely Mary at My Stampin' Hide-Away
Happy dancing Sue at Sue's Sentiments
Lil old Me --- here
Delightful Cindy at Stamp With Me Cindy G

I've been reorganizing my studio and found lots of neglected stamps and papers that I wanted to let see the light of day.  I pulled out this adorable Stampin' Up set from 2004 and used DCWV glitter paper that I've had for a few years.  So, I would say these definitely qualify as OBDs.

Yep, I still have the original box.

I didn't get this done in time to use natural lighting for the photo, so please excuse the glare.  It is glittery paper.  I used a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch on the burgundy glitter paper.

Now this is one serious shopper! She is colored with Copics and rhinestones baubles on her clever Christmas tree dress.  If our winter is like last year I might be wearing skates to shop, too --- hahahaha!

The sentiment on the inside of the card is part of the set.  Cute, huh!

Thanks for stopping by today. Please be sure to visit my sistahs Mary, Sue, and Cindy and leave them some love, too.

Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

Today is the 3rd Wednesday of the month and that means another Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies
BLOG HOP!
This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of .

If you came here from the multi-talented Cindy's blog you are on the right track.  She is a tough act to follow and I am honored to be in her company! To start at the beginning of the hop pop on over to see what our amazing and sweet Carolyn has put together.

Recently I was sorting through dusty boxes and came across 3D Memory Keepers from Deja View.  I think I got these for scrapbook pages to hold trinkets, coins, and other keepsakes.  Since they are in two pieces and seal rather tightly they hold the FloraCraft Diamond Dust quite well, too.  So, inside I used these adorable little penquin foam stickers with just enough "snow" for them to dance in.

Even the penquin paper is obg, since I haven't used it since last year's Christmas cardmaking. Along the top I added red trim shaped with Martha Stewart border punch.  Dangling from the scallops are little stick-on snow balls.  I use lots of these during the season!

Here is a close-up of the happy penguins.  They make me think of the adorable movie "Happy Feet".

It's been a fabulous blog hop so far, right?  There are actually more stops!  Hop on over to Dru's where you will surely be delighted by her gorgeous creations!  Thanks for stopping by today!

D.I.V.A.S. OBG Blog Hop!

It's time for a blog hop!

After a brief summer break we are back on the third Wednesday of the month with the Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies blog hop. This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of .  If you came here from the uber-talented Cindy's blog you are on the right track.  She is a tough act to follow and I am honored to be in her company! To start at the beginning of the hop pop on over to see what our amazing Heather has put together.

My "Oldie But Goodie" was discovered while I was reorganizing one corner of my studio. I opened a drawer and found a package of these pretty blue library card pockets! I have know idea what I bought them for, but now one of them is the centerpiece of this thank you card. The front of the card is in four sections and covered with four pieces of dp from a 7 Gypsies stack, which I haven't used in forever! The sentiment tag is also from that stack and I put a rub on "thank you".  The inside tag was also found in that neglected drawer, along with about 49 others in a package of tags. Don't ask cuz I don't know. How do we accumulate all this stuff?  The butterfly isn't all that old and came from a K & Co set of 3D stickers.

It might be a pain in the you-know-what, but reorganizing now and then is like shopping all over again!  Now, hop on over to Maria's and see what treasure she has made from her OBG stash!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!

Design D.I.V.A.S. "Oldies But Goodies" June Blog Hop

It is already that time --- the third Wednesday of the month and time for the Design D.I.V.A.S. Oldies But Goodies blog hop. This is a very talented and supportive group, which I'm blessed to be a part of .  If you came here from the uber-talented Carolyn's blog you are on the right track.  She is a tough act to follow and I am honored to be in her company! To start at the beginning of the hop pop on over to see what our amazing Mary G. has put together.

I used my OBGs for a Father's Day card for my uncle.

The OBG here is the set of Tim Holtz clear stamps named "The Journey". The cars and speedometer are from that set.  I stamped them on Kraft card stock and embossed with opaque black embossing powder.  The gold card stock is embossed with the diamonds embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  I haven't used that much, either.  I didn't have a particular sketch in mind when I started the card, so at some point (several points, actually) I wasn't happy with what was happening on the Kraft card stock base.  Then I found the black and white houndstooth ribbon.  That seemed to keep the "triangle" rule going.

Anywho, I used a sparkly embossing powder for the sentiment but it doesn't show up very well in the photo.  IRL it looks ok, but I think I should have done it in black.  The brad on the sentiment tag is a cool vintage looking leftover from a mostly used up set.  I think my uncle will like this even though I am not totally thrilled.  I'm a little spoiled by him --- he likes everything I do.  :-P

Thanks for hopping along with us today.  Now, off you go to Angie's blog where you are sure to be delighted with her project!

Design D.I.V.A.S. of Facebook March Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

It is time once again for the Design D.I.V.A.S. of Facebook to have our monthly Oldies But Goodies (OBG) Blog Hop! Every month we create projects using toys, tools, stamps, papers, or anything else we haven't used for at least 6 months. I know I'm not alone when I say that we probably have enough OBGs to have these blog hops for many months to come!

The hop started with Melissa at Inkclinations, who is not only very talented, but coordinated this hop for us! Thank you, Melissa!  Since I am second in the order you need to go back only one spot to catch up.  (Even if I was at the bottom of the order you would want to go back to the start, because there are so many very talented papercrafters in our little group.)  By the end of the hop you, too, will be dusting off your OBGs and wondering why they've been sitting on the shelf so long!

I chose a Cuttlebug embossing folder/die set called Persia that I purchased well over 6 months ago.  After dusting off the package I used it to make a set of notecards.

Ecru and blue cardstock was cut in half to make  2 A6 cards.  These were simply run through the Cuttlebug with the embossing folder.

Then I ran the die through with the ecru and blue.  On the one die is the peacock, border, medallion and a leaf.  Here I have the peacock and border in the contrasting colors.

Here is the medallion and border die cuts. I didn't use the leaf in this set.  It looked very lonely by itself, yet didn't quite fit it with each of the other dies.
Easy Peasy!! Six notecards with no fuss, no muss! These will be great when I need a quick note, or even box up a set as a gift!  I'm definitely wondering why I let this sit so long!

Ok, now on to the next stop.  Lorie is a Peachy Keen gal at The Thinkin' Spot and she is next. I know she has something fantastic for you to see! I hope you enjoy our hop.  Leave me a little love and tell me what you would dust off today.  Better yet, I'll come visit your blog and see for myself!

Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S. February Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

It is time for another Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S. "Oldies But Goodies" Blog Hop!  This newly formed group of very creative papercrafters has designated the third Wednesday of each month to dust off our toys, tools, and techniques that haven't been used for awhile (read: a long time!).  I, for one, have been happily reunited with all sorts of fun craft supplies.  Before I show you my card, let me just mention that I am number 6 on the blog hop.  If you came here from the awesomely talented Sue Walsh you are on the right path.  To start at the beginning you will want to visit Brenda Turner

This month I became reaquainted with another of my brass stencils for this card:

I dry embossed this beautiful heart and flowers stencil by Dreamweavers.  The paper is canvas style Core'dinations with a white core.  After I dry embossed I sanded the surface to bring out more of the core.  Then I cut it out with the Labels Sixteen Nestabilities die and sanded the embossed border.  The ivory lace on the left side is another oldie but goodie.  It was in a bag of antique laces I picked up at a local antique shop.  The flowers are a mix of Prima and mini-roses from the bridal department at Michael's.  Leaves are MS punch along with pearls and a charm.

Hmmm, stencils and Core'dinations paper..... nice combination!

Thanks for stopping by today! Feel free to leave a comment, and be sure to move on to visit the lovely and talented Cindy Grigiski.  Enjoy the rest of the blog hop.  I hope we have you digging out your oldies but goodies, too!

Facebook Design D.I.V.A.S. First Monthly Blog Hop

I am so excited and honored to be part of a new Facebook group of talented and supportive papercrafters.  This group is called Design D.I.V.A.S. which stands for Divine, Inspirational, Virtuous, Artistic (or annointed) Sistahs!  There is also a Design D.I.V.A.S. group at Splitcoast Stampers. Many of these ladies are already blogging friends, and I have met so many more.

This is our first monthly blog hop.  You can look forward to a new hop on the 3rd Wednesday of each month which will feature some of the most talented crafters I have ever seen.  If you have been following the hop you probably came here from Sandy H. at Stamp Mine. If you would like to start at the beginning, so you don't miss a single inspiring project, visit Sue at Sue's Sentiments.

For this blog hop we are dusting off our oldies but goodies.  These can be stamps, papers, tools, or whatevers that we haven't used for at least six months.  I know I'm not the only one hoarding, or neglecting, some of my "toys".  The problem was, what gets to see the light of day for the first time in a long time?  I chose this lovely Sarah Kay image that I had colored eons ago.

The image is colored with Copics.  The dp background is also and oldie but goodie from my stash of scrapbooking papers. It actually turned out to go so well with the colored image.  Mixed in with the oldies are some newbies.  Like the lavender panel which is punched around with the large MS set.  It's so pretty I just have to use it again and again, especially with spring coming.  The scalloped circle is a new Nestabilities die set that I just bought at Michael's.  Yep, the Michael's here in Branson just got in a handful of Stampabilities and I am thrilled!  Not many pieces yet, but it's a start!  The flowers are from the bridal department at Hobby Lobby.

Here's a close-up of the girls.  They remind me of my sister and me.  I am the older, but shorter, sister so I'll leave it up to you to decide which is who!  I'm thinking this would make a very special Valentine for her.

Also in the oldies category is this bubble sticker that says it all.

I hope you continue through the hop.  You'll be inspired and probably make many new friends.  So, move on now to Sharri at I Stamp 4 U. Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope to see you again soon.
